Ramazan - Egirdire |

We awaken on this marvellous island after a night of profound
sleep: the rain and intense wind were like a lullaby, and in the morning the vista
within and the vista without had been swept clean by the winds.
God save the winds! Downstairs the joy of the infant Ramazan was evident and going down to the family main room it was easy to understand why. He was with his mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt in front of a warm wood stove and all around him was love and protection. Outside, as far as the eye could see, were water and mountains. A stone village in the distance found it's niche between these two. The waves on the lake were as hardy as stones; the sky a dramatic wind-swept blue/grey/black. And Ramazan gurgled, gurgled. In the village of Egirdir, we recommend the Adac Pension where you can meet Ramazan and his family. Ramazan's grandmother is an excellent cook and does wonders with the fresh fish caught in the lake.
