Before we set out on this trip one of the things we were
looking the most forward to was soaking our eyes in the visual patterns of other
cultures. We knew very well that living in France gave us access to some of the
finest museums in the world and that an exhibit of Oriental art was never more
than a metro ticket away. But by travelling, the world would become our museum
and instead of having art under a glass, we would be surrounded by the motifs
of different cultures and that their ways of life; their rhythms and rhymes would
be so omnipresent that we would become part of them. They would be part of us.
Marie-Do has created a beautiful visiting card for us in which she has managed
to create a sensitive and aesthetic blend of what we have seen by placing a Moslem
and a Buddhist design side by side. Every time I look at that card I am astounded
to realise that we have seen these things, breathed these things. On the way,
she has dedicated herself to photographing and documenting different art forms.
We invite you to travel with us once again. This time it is not a chronicle of
our adventures or mishaps, chance meetings or life-saving friendships. This is
a chronicle of beauty, of grace and of ever-present enchantment. To get a larger
