Sorry for this long silence, I'm sure many of you are wondering
where we are. Or perhaps I'm just flattering myself. Here's the update. We have
arrived safely and soundly in India after having breezed through Pakistan. This
is a shame because we saw next to nothing in that land and it is a land which,
more than most, really gives you a feeling of being totally 'out there'.
The reason for this haste was my flight on the 8th of July back to France to see
my daughter, Cléa, and visit friends. This, then is the right time to thank Aulne
and Swanny and Moulne, Andrée and Bernard for their hospitality. Thanks also go
to Jean-Paul and Anne-Marie for their support and use of their PC. Without them
we could never have got Iran on the site in time. Also many thanks to Mr. Habib
Nunu of Royal Jordanian Airlines and all their staff who did a great job getting
me there and back. I especially appreciated watching Seinfeld on the flights.
So now I'm back in India, New Delhi to be precise where Marie-Do has landed a
job refusing visas at the French Embassy. Here are some photos of Pakistan, the
Sikh Holy City of Amritsar just across the border in India, and Delhi.
Amritsar, by the way, is pretty magic. The Sikhs - an offshoot of both Islam and
Hinduism - have created an amazing sacred place for themselves where everyone
is welcome to hang out and listen to the reading of their holy book. The book
is sung, and the effect is enchanting. More about that when things settle down.
For Hebrew speakers living in Israel, you can try to grab a June copy of Teva
HaDevarim in which there is an article by us about Syria. For those living outside
Israel, we'll try to scan and post the article ASAP.
Many thanks also go to Eva for the use of her flat here.
Stay tuned, more is on its way.
