Looking for an internet cafe in Ioanina we drove by this man's workshop. He creates wooden hand-crafted objects for churches.
When he saw us ogling he took away the 'no parking' signs in front of his shop and invited us in. Inside we were greeted by vineyards, olive branches, crucifixion scenes and meter after meter of arches, doors and windows all sculpted into the wood by his small hands.
I couldn't believe my eyes, so I took his hands in mine (they were really small) and motioned,
"you did this? With your hands?"
Yes, he did this with his hands.
After inviting us to a glass of Tziporo, the local grape eau de vie, we took his picture. He tells us you can visit him on his home page, www.epirus.com/p.epipla , but I haven't tried yet.
